What is courage? Courage is a noble word. We can look up in a dictionary and find a definition: mental or moral strength to venture, persevere, and withstand danger, fear, or difficulty. We can also find examples in stories and poems of heroic acts of courage. But courage is much more than that. It is the ability to do what must be done, even in the face of opposition, difficulty, or danger. Courage can be seen in everyday acts of kindness and bravery. It can be seen in the determination of a student to work hard and achieve their goals despite obstacles. It can be seen in a firefighter running into a burning building to save others, or in a doctor providing medical care in a war zone. It is the courage to make hard decisions, the courage to speak up for the rights of others, and the courage to find hope and strength, even in the darkest of times. Courage is not something that we are born with; it is something that we learn and develop over time. Through our experiences, our struggles, and our suffering, we have an opportunity to become stronger and develop courage. It is not easy, and it takes time and practice. But with practice and dedication, we can learn to be courageous and become an inspiration to others.
