Lighting refers to the use of lights or sources of illumination to modify the appearance of an environment. Examples of these types of lighting include driveway lights, security lights and garden lights. Solar powered lights are becoming increasingly popular for outdoor lighting, due to their cost-effectiveness and zero maintenance. Lighting is particularly important in photography and film, as it helps to set the mood of each scene and draw attention to the subjects. Cinematographers and photographers rely on taking control of the ambient lighting in each situation to capture their desired results, using a combination of open-air lighting, permanent fixtures and portable lighting equipment. Overall, lighting is an essential element of our lives and is used for many practical and creative purposes.
